The complete prompt
1Square podcast cover artwork for a show about coastal weather. Bold graphic composition of 2a single stylised barometer needle sweeping across a field of layered isobar lines, centred and symmetrical. 3Deep navy ground, one band of pale chalk white and a narrow signal orange arc marking the needle, flat shapes with 4a faint risograph misprint offset on the orange layer. 5Heavy visual weight so the design holds at 55 pixels, no thin lines, no fine texture, 6clear silhouette against both light and dark app backgrounds. 7Leave the lower third quiet for a show title to be set later. No lettering, 8no microphone imagery, no headphones, no logos, no watermark.

Prompt structure
Each phrase below appears verbatim in the prompt above and controls one thing. Mix, replace or delete them to make your own version.
- 01
Square podcast cover artwork
Every directory renders this square, often twice: large on a show page and tiny in a now-playing bar. Both sizes are part of the brief.
- 02
a single stylised barometer needle sweeping across a field of layered isobar lines
One idea, drawn once. Podcast covers fail by containing three ideas at 55 pixels rather than one at any size.
- 03
Deep navy ground, one band of pale chalk white and a narrow signal orange arc
Three values, assigned by area: a dark field, a light band, a small bright accent. Naming the areas prevents an even three-way split, which always looks weaker.
- 04
a faint risograph misprint offset on the orange layer
A print artefact borrowed for character. Risograph offset is a strong identity cue that costs one phrase.
- 05
Heavy visual weight so the design holds at 55 pixels
The real constraint, stated as a number. 55 pixels is roughly the now-playing thumbnail on a phone.
- 06
clear silhouette against both light and dark app backgrounds
Podcast apps have themes. A cover that only works on white disappears for half your listeners.
- 07
Leave the lower third quiet for a show title
Reserving space beats overlaying later. The quiet third is where a real typeface goes.
- 08
no microphone imagery, no headphones
The two clichés every podcast cover generator reaches for first. Excluding them forces an idea specific to the show.
Questions about this prompt
Why design for 55 pixels?
That is roughly how large the cover appears in a phone's now-playing bar, which is where listeners see it most often. A design that survives there also works large; the reverse is rarely true.
Should the show name be in the image?
Set it yourself. Podcast directories have their own text-legibility requirements, and generated lettering will not survive review or resizing. Phrase 7 leaves the space for it.
How do I test the result quickly?
Shrink it to a 55-pixel square and place it on both a white and a near-black background. If the silhouette still reads in both, the cover works.
